About the Opportunity The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide primary health care across a designated group of long-term care homes. This role supports care through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, physicians, staff, residents, and families to enhance quality of care. The successful candidate will primarily support, North Queens Nursing Home, Rosedale Nursing Home, Hillside Pines and Ryan Hall and may provide coverage to additional homes based on operational needs.

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive clinical care to patients in a designated service or program areas.

Practitioner as the most responsible healthcare provider (MRHCP), works autonomously to diagnose, order, and interpret laboratory tests, order and interpret reports of diagnostic imaging investigations, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform procedures.

Practitioner works to admit, transfer, accept transfer of and discharge within the legislated scope of practice.

Practitioner provides direct care (including inpatient care) and partners with other members of the health care team for the achievement of the most appropriate and timely care for patients. working autonomously or in collaboration with other members of the team, the Nurse Practitioner provides care for and monitors the physical/biologic, psychologic, spiritual needs of patients and integrates these into holistic care plans engaging as appropriate with family, community, and other agencies/services.

Nurse Practitioners are accountable to and ensure their practice is consistent with, both the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, as well as the Canadian Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Masters of Nursing – Advanced Nursing Practice stream
- Registered with the NSCN with active-practicing status, with a license to practice as an Nurse Practitioner in Nova Scotia or eligible for registration
- Successful in the Nurse Practitioner examination
- CNA Certification in a relevant field would be an asset
- Current certification in BCLS
- Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and aptitude for progressive, innovative, and creative thinking
- Adaptable to changing situations and environments
- Possesses strong leadership and organizational skills and a high degree of judgment and initiative
- Must have valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

- Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- The successful candidate will primarily support North Queens Nursing Home, Rosedale Nursing Home, Hillside Pines and Ryan Hall and may provide coverage to additional homes based on operational needs

Compensation and Benefits $59.46 - $69.52 hourly

$71.95 hourly with 25 years of NP experience
