Guidelines Construction Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Painter and Decorator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will perform interior and exterior painting, finishing, wallpaper installation, and protective coating applications on residential and commercial construction projects while ensuring exceptional workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
Prepare, clean, scrape, sand, patch, caulk, fill, and prime interior and exterior surfaces before painting.
Repair cracks, holes, damaged drywall, and other surface imperfections.
Waterproof, damp-proof, and restore surfaces in accordance with project specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and project specifications.
Apply paints, stains, varnishes, enamels, wallpaper, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and airless spray equipment.
Mix paints and finishing materials to achieve required colours and finishes.
Protect adjacent surfaces, fixtures, flooring, and furnishings from paint and overspray.
Assemble and safely use ladders, scaffolding, and swing stages.
Estimate paint and material quantities required for projects.
Maintain painting tools, spray equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.
Follow Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company safety policies.
Deliver quality workmanship while maintaining excellent customer service.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of painting and decorating experience.
Experience in residential and/or commercial painting projects.
Experience using brushes, rollers, and airless spray equipment.
Strong knowledge of surface preparation, primers, sealers, paints, stains, and protective coating systems.
Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and work specifications.
Ability to work safely at heights.
Physically capable of lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
WHMIS certification and Working at Heights training are considered assets.
Experience with industrial or protective coating systems is considered an asset.
What We Offer
Competitive wage of CA$34.70 per hour
Permanent full-time employment (40 hours per week)
