Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Business Partner plays a key role in delivering full‑cycle recruitment support. This is a strategic position focused on attracting top talent, building strong partnerships with hiring managers, and driving creative sourcing solutions.
You will be responsible for all recruitment needs for the Hamilton LRT project, working with two Aecon sectors; Utility and Civil.
Conduct full‑cycle recruitment for all open roles across Aecon's Utilities and Civil division. This includes sourcing, screening resumes,
conducting telephone screens, interviewing, reference checks, and composing and extending job offers
Identify strategies and sourcing channels to build a pipeline of candidates for assigned portfolio
Establish connections, maintain and leverage a professional online and social media presence, and prospect talent through your network
Provide trusted advice to hiring managers by using diverse interviewing and assessment techniques to validate candidate experience levels
Consult with hiring managers and provide updates on the labor market, candidate availability, sourcing methods, recruitment risks, relocation packages and more
Communicate on a regular basis with the business to understand and forecast recruitment needs and initiatives
Assist and consult on the development of job descriptions and job postings
Guide candidates throughout the recruitment process and ensure a smooth onboarding experience in partnership with the Human Resources Business Administrator
Identify opportunities for process‑improvement
Use recruitment data and metrics to gain valuable insights into recruitment trends and incorporate into overall recruitment strategies
Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging
Take initiative to develop strong understanding of the workforce planning needs and talent roadmap of Aecon’s sector and industry segments
Understand and deliver diversity needs by sector and proactively profile quality diverse talent
Ensure all candidate data and information is captured and saved in ATS, and leverage collaborative sourcing/recruitment tools, including LinkedIn Recruiter and Indeed daily
Reduce Aecon’s spend with external recruitment agencies through the effective recruitment of passive, external candidates, talent programs (multiple hires), and projects. Throughout the search delivery,
The Talent Acquisition Business Partner will deliver an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience
Build and maintain brand awareness, a network of industry contacts, and strategic external partnerships
Regular engagement with internal partners including talent acquisition, equity, diversity and inclusion, and HR Leads to review strategic hiring needs and support recruiting activities across sectors
Post‑secondary education in Human Resources or business‑related area an asset
Exceptional organization and emerging project management skills with proven ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
Passion for and experience with diversity hiring initiatives
Collaborative self‑starter and creative problem solver
Experience with SAP is an asset
Able to operate independently to create recruitment sourcing pipelines and build a talent community
Demonstrated proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
Agency experience is an asset.
This role follows a hybrid work model, combining in‑office collaboration and flexibility, with an expectation of three days per week in the office. We would consider someone based out of our Etobicoke, ON office.
Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
