English. This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language utilized is English.

Wawanesa is looking for an exceptional candidate to take on the role of Senior Actuarial Consultant in our expanding Pricing Research and Development team. You will function as an expert in actuarial methodologies and mentor actuarial staff in the understanding and use of these methods.

Note: we are open to hiring at the Actuarial Consultant or Senior Actuarial Consultant.

Researches, extracts, and manipulates complex data from relevant sources, and assesses data quality.

Supports the business and overall team by performing analyses/reviews and completing ad-hoc requests/special projects in a timely manner with minimal support from peers and leaders.

Identifies opportunities for automation of routine tasks and implementation of advanced techniques while ensuring ethical and responsible application of solutions.

Develops creative approaches to solve complex issues and assesses impacts of solution options.

Recommends actions that should be taken in response to industry news and trends

Encouraged to represent Wawanesa in industry research, professional standards, and technical working groups and shares insights internally with relevant teams

Commits to career development and continuous experiential learning to build cross-functional knowledge, technical skills, and mastery in competencies.

Provides regular project updates to stakeholders. Leads projects from beginning to end, including training and documentation. Includes implementation of final product.

Actively contributes to the mentorship, training and development of actuarial analysts.

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related discipline.
