The Ontario Heritage Trust is seeking a strategic people leader to establish and lead a newly created Property Management, Rentals and Tenant Services Branch. This is a unique opportunity to influence how more than 200 provincially owned heritage properties are managed and sustained for future generations. From iconic theatres and historic landmarks to natural heritage properties across Ontario, you will lead the strategic oversight of property operations, leasing, licensing, rentals and tenant services for one of the province's most distinctive and diverse real estate portfolios.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring these significant places remain vibrant, relevant and accessible while supporting the Trust's mandate to conserve Ontario's heritage and enrich the lives of Ontarians. The director will develop the policies, processes and frameworks that guide property use, tenant relationships, rental and leasing strategies along with day-to-day operations while balancing financial sustainability, public value and heritage conservation objectives. You will foster strong partnerships with communities, tenants, stakeholders, Indigenous partners, board members and government decision-makers.
Success in this role will require strategic thinking, political acuity, strong financial and operational leadership, and a passion for creating innovative approaches to managing heritage assets.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Property Management, Rentals and Tenant Services will: Maximize the value, utilization, and sustainability of the Trust's built heritage assets through effective leasing, tenant relations, infrastructure planning, and operational oversight.
Oversee third party uses of properties across the province, including rentals, leases and licencing Ensures consistent, transparent corporate policies are applied across all sites, while remaining responsive to the unique needs of urban and rural communities.
Establish and maintain effective relationships and communications to represent the interests, needs and opportunities of heritage properties Champion collaboration, engagement, equity, inclusion, accessibility, excellence and employee well-being balancing strategic direction-setting with the right level of operational oversight, ensuring strong outcomes leading through transformational change, championing modernization and innovative service-delivery approaches, and taking measured, appropriate risks to advance meaningful improvement creating a culture of diversity, inclusion, accessibility, anti-racism, equity, and psychological safety, while strengthening staff stability, morale, and well-being across a geographically dispersed region.
Relationship
Management and Political Acuity demonstrating strong political acuity while delivering strategic, confidential, and time-sensitive advice to senior leaders, ministry executives, and government officials managing complex, politically sensitive, and high-profile issues involving diverse and sometimes competing interests bringing in diverse perspectives, to inform decision-making, innovation,
and continuous service improvement ability to facilitate the adaptive reuse and activation of spaces through leasing and licencing ability to develop and manage rental and leasing strategies that maximize earned revenue, while balancing the heritage value of properties.
