Application Programmer III consultant to support enterprise data processing and application development initiatives within a large Canadian organization. The engagement involves developing and maintaining Python-based applications, optimizing SQL Server performance, supporting production environments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions. Develop and maintain Python-based jobs integrated with enterprise job scheduling frameworks.
Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server queries, stored procedures, data models, and reporting solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, application defects, and performance bottlenecks. Implement job scheduling, monitoring, and alerting processes.
Ensure code quality through testing, logging, documentation, and adherence to development standards. Support application releases, deployments, and environment management activities.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to data processing and application performance.
Solid hands-on experience developing applications using Python.
Experience with data processing frameworks and enterprise job scheduling frameworks. Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including: Database performance tuning Experience designing and supporting ETL and data processing workflows.
Experience using version control systems such as Git.
Experience working with enterprise data platforms or within the banking or financial services industry. Knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation. Understanding of enterprise data pipelines and upstream/downstream data dependencies.
