About the Role

We are looking for a Research Analyst with a strong foundation in economics and statistics to join our small, high-impact team. You will work directly with senior analysts and managing directors to aggregate, model, and forecast economic and industry-specific data that underpins our proprietary advertising market intelligence products. This is not a traditional financial services role.

You will not be building DCF models or writing equity research notes. Instead, you will work with government data sources across multiple countries, build and maintain large data sets covering dozens of media types, produce quarterly forecasts, and write clear, concise analytical summaries. The work sits at the intersection of applied economics, data science, and media industry intelligence.

The ideal candidate is someone who finds government statistical agencies more interesting than Bloomberg terminals, who can turn a messy data release from Statistics Canada or the BLS into a clean, forecasting-ready data set in hours rather than days, and who writes clearly enough to explain what the data means to a CEO. Key Responsibilities

Aggregate and organize historical economic and industry-specific data from government sources (Statistics Canada, BLS, Eurostat, national statistical agencies) across multiple countries

Build, maintain, and update large Excel-based data sets and forecasting models covering media types, advertising markets, and macroeconomic indicators

Produce quarterly and ad hoc forecasts for economy-wide and industry-specific topics (retail sales, automotive volumes, digital advertising spend, GDP components)

Write clear,

concise analytical summaries and briefs interpreting data trends for senior leadership and client deliverables

Monitor and track new data releases from government agencies, NGOs, trade bodies, and industry associations across 10+ global markets

Develop and document methodologies for data collection, normalization, and cross-country comparison

Conduct quality assurance on data sets, identifying and resolving inconsistencies, gaps, and anomalies

Support client-facing research products by preparing data exhibits, charts, and tables for quarterly publications

Research and evaluate current data sources as the firm expands from 10 to 50 global markets

Collaborate with managing directors and senior analysts to refine forecasting approaches and respond to ad hoc client inquiries Qualifications

Bachelor's or higher degree in Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, or a closely related quantitative field

3-6 years of professional experience in economic research, data analysis, or applied forecasting

Deep familiarity with government and institutional data sources (Statistics Canada, BLS, Eurostat, national statistical offices, central banks, trade bodies)

Detailed understanding of the methodologies underpinning benchmark economic data (e.g., how CPI is constructed,

seasonal adjustment methods, survey sampling frameworks)

Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling, large data set management); comfort with 50,000+ row workbooks is expected

Strong written communication skills, ability to produce clear, publication-ready analytical summaries under time pressure

Demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately on tight turnaround deadlines

Experience working with advertising, media, or technology industry data

Familiarity with programming/scripting for data manipulation (Python, R, SQL) in addition to Excel

Progress toward or completion of the CFA designation

Experience producing forecasts for commercial (non-academic) audiences

Familiarity with data sources from multiple countries (not just Canada/US)

French fluency (written and spoken), an asset for supporting expansion into Francophone markets and potential future Montreal-based operations

Additional languages a bonus, particularly those relevant to current and planned coverage markets Compensation

Base Salary: Starting at C$100,000 per year

Health, Medical, & Dental Benefits
