ABOUT THE ROLE
TKG Ltd is looking for a hands-on Robot Programmer to join our automation team. You'll be at the heart of our cell design, commissioning, and continuous-improvement work — programming, integrating, and fine-tuning industrial robots that keep production running reliably. This is a mid-level position ideal for someone with a few years of real shop-floor experience on Fanuc and KUKA platforms who is ready to take ownership of programming tasks and grow with us.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop, test, and optimise robot programs for Fanuc (TP / KAREL) and KUKA (KRL) systems across new and existing cells.
- Set up, teach, and calibrate robots — tool frames, user frames, payloads, and reference points.
- Commission recent automation cells on-site: integration with PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, grippers, and safety hardware.
- Troubleshoot and debug production issues to minimise downtime and improve cycle times.
- Support mechanical and electrical teams during builds, installs, and FAT/SAT acceptance testing.
- Document programs, cell layouts, and standard operating procedures; train operators and maintenance staff.
- Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives around throughput, quality, and reliability.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 2–5 years' hands-on experience programming and commissioning industrial robots.
- Proven, practical experience with Fanuc and KUKA robots — teaching, editing, and optimising programs on the controller.
- Working knowledge of KRL, Fanuc TP/KAREL, or equivalent robot programming languages.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and I/O lists.
- Familiarity with PLC integration (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and industrial communication protocols.
- Understanding of robot safety standards and safe working practices around automation.
- A methodical, problem-solving mindset and the confidence to work independently on the shop floor.
- Willingness to travel to customer/production sites for commissioning as needed.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with additional platforms (ABB, Yaskawa/Motoman, Universal Robots).
- Offline programming / simulation tools (Roboguide, KUKA.Sim, RobotStudio, Process Simulate).
- Vision system integration (Cognex, Keyence, or Fanuc iRVision).
- Experience with welding, material handling, palletising, or machine-tending applications.
- Relevant qualification in mechatronics, electrical/mechanical engineering, or automation.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive salary of $72,000–$92,000 CAD, based on your experience, plus paid overtime.
- Comprehensive health & dental benefits for you and your family.
- Group RRSP with employer matching to help you save for the future.
- Paid vacation starting at [2–3] weeks, plus paid holidays.
- Tool and safety-boot allowance, and company-provided PPE.
- Genuine investment in your development — paid training and certification on new robot platforms and technologies.
- Varied, interesting projects across a range of industries, with a supportive team that takes pride in doing automation well.
