Role Description The Security Technician is a full-time, in office role based in the Greater Halifax Metropolitan Area. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining alarm systems, security cameras, access control, and related data wiring in residential and commercial settings. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment and connectivity issues, performing routine inspections, and ensuring all systems meet company standards and regulatory requirements.

The Security

Technician will interact with clients to assess needs, explain system functions, provide basic user training, and document completed work and service reports.



The role also includes collaborating with the team on scheduling, inventory management, and continuous improvement of installation and service practices.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues with security hardware, wiring, and connectivity.

Candidates should possess cybersecurity and network security skills to help safeguard systems and data from unauthorized access.

Candidates should possess alarm systems knowledge, including installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of residential and commercial security systems.

Candidates should possess occupational health awareness and the ability to follow safety procedures when working on-site, at heights, and with electrical components.

Relevant technical education or certifications in electronics, security systems, networking, or a related field are beneficial.

Experience with low-voltage wiring, IP-based camera systems, and basic networking (routers, switches, cabling) is an asset.

Strong communication skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required.

A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between job sites within the Greater Halifax area are typically needed.
