Overview Adastra is seeking an experienced Ab Initio Developer to design, develop, and support enterprise-scale data integration solutions. This role is responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining ETL workflows that enable reliable data movement across complex business systems. The successful candidate will work closely with business analysts, data architects, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable, high-performance data pipelines while ensuring data quality, operational stability, and productive processing of large-volume datasets.

This role is responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining ETL workflows that enable reliable data movement across complex business systems. The successful candidate will work closely with business analysts, data architects, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable, high-performance data pipelines while ensuring data quality, operational stability, and efficient processing of large-volume datasets.

Compensation Range: $75,000 - $85,000 CAD
Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain ETL graphs using Ab Initio GDE (Graphical Development Environment)
Build and optimize ETL processes that integrate data from databases, flat files, mainframes, and APIs
Develop Ab Initio components including partitioning, sorting, joins, rollups, and lookups for large-scale data processing
Write and maintain reusable, parameterized graphs using PDL and DML
Tune ETL workflows for performance, scalability, and efficient resource utilization
Manage metadata and version control using Ab Initio Co> Operating System and EME
Implement data quality controls, error handling, rejection processing, and logging within ETL workflows
Collaborate with business analysts and data architects to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Schedule, monitor, and support batch jobs using Ab Initio Control Center or enterprise scheduling tools
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve data pipeline failures
Participate in code reviews, testing, deployments, and release activities
Document technical designs, data lineage, ETL workflows, and graph specifications
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience 5+ years of experience developing ETL solutions using Ab Initio
Strong hands-on experience with Ab Initio GDE, Co> Operating System, and EME
Experience developing and optimizing large-scale data integration and transformation processes
Strong knowledge of Ab Initio components, including partitioning, sorting, joins, rollups, and lookups
Experience writing and maintaining PDL and DML
Experience working with relational databases, flat files, APIs, and other enterprise data sources
Solid understanding of data warehousing, ETL, and data integration best practices
Experience implementing data quality controls, error handling, and logging frameworks
Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis skills in production environments
Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and scalable ETL solutions
Robust communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills
NICE TO HAVE Experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as Autosys or Control-M
Experience working within large-scale enterprise data warehouse environments
Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures
Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment processes
Financial services or banking industry experience
