Senior Director, Product Design

Employment Type: Direct Hire (Permanent)

Location: Hybrid (preferably onsite during initial 1-3mo)

- Philadelphia, PA OR Quebec, Canada
- Primarily Monday-Friday, standard business hours with flexibility as needed

Compensation:

- United States: Approximately $325,000-$375,000 total compensation
- Canada: Approximately $280,000-$370,000 total compensation
- Compensation structure is approximately 85% base salary / 15% bonus

Overview We are seeking an accomplished Product Design leader who combines strategic vision with deep hands-on product design expertise. This individual will oversee design strategy across a large, complex portfolio of enterprise software products and play a critical role in shaping product experiences, organizational design practices, and future AI-driven innovation.

This is not a role for a purely operational or theoretical design leader. The ideal candidate has personally designed and launched sophisticated software products, understands up-to-date UX methodologies, and has successfully built and scaled high-performing design organizations while influencing executive-level product decisions.

We are looking for a leader who challenges conventional thinking, elevates product experiences, and helps define how artificial intelligence transforms both products and design teams.

Required Qualifications

- 12+ years of Product Design, UX, or User Experience leadership experience
- Proven track record designing and delivering commercial software products
- 7+ years leading Product Design teams, including experience managing managers and senior leaders
- Strong background in product design and user experience, beyond design operations or research alone
- Experience partnering directly with Product Management and Engineering leaders on product strategy




- Demonstrated success influencing executive stakeholders and driving organizational change
- Experience designing enterprise software, B2B SaaS products, technical software, or complex user workflows
- Experience incorporating AI capabilities into products and/or leveraging AI within design processes
- Outstanding communication, storytelling, and executive presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience within engineering software, infrastructure technology, industrial software, construction technology, manufacturing software, CAD, GIS, or related industries
- Experience supporting large, multi-product software portfolios
- Expertise with Figma and modern design tool ecosystems
- Experience utilizing AI-powered design tools and workflows
- Experience building design systems and driving UX consistency across product portfolios
- Background working within highly matrixed global organizations

Responsibilities Design Leadership & Strategy

- Define and execute the long-term product design vision and strategy across a large software portfolio
- Ensure design plays a meaningful role in product strategy, roadmap planning, and business decisions
- Champion design as a driver of customer outcomes, business value, and product differentiation
- Serve as a senior leader within a global design organization

Product Experience & Portfolio Design
- Lead design strategy across multiple enterprise software products
- Drive cohesive experiences and consistency across interconnected applications




- Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering leadership to influence strategic priorities and investments
- Evaluate products and workflows to ensure alignment with long-term business goals and user needs

AI & Innovation
- Define the organization's approach to AI-enabled user experiences
- Identify opportunities to embed AI capabilities that improve customer outcomes and productivity
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted design, research, and product development practices
- Establish best practices around AI-enabled design, governance, validation, trust, and transparency
- Help evolve design methodologies to effectively leverage AI while maintaining product quality and user-centered design principles

Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop a global team of Product Designers, UX Researchers, Design Managers, and senior contributors
- Mentor future design leaders and strengthen organizational capabilities
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Build strong partnerships across Product, Engineering, Executive Leadership, and key business stakeholders

Executive Influence
- Operate as a strategic partner to senior Product and Engineering leaders
- Advocate for design at the executive level and communicate its business impact
- Demonstrate how design investments contribute to product success, user adoption, and business outcomes
- Influence decisions through collaboration, expertise, and leadership

Candidates should have experience scaling design organizations while remaining deeply connected to product strategy and customer experience.
