Senior Environmental or Water Resources Engineer / Ingénieur(e) sénior à intermédiaire en environnement ou en ressources en eau
Location: Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Sudbury, Canada. This position is hybrid (office and remote) with flexible working hours.
Responsibilities
- Execution and leadership of mine water management engineering projects at all phases of the mine life, including planning, construction, operations, closure, and reclamation.
- Preparation and review of engineering calculations, models, and methods.
- Preparation of or assistance in preparing drawings, technical reports, and memos.
- Participation in multidisciplinary teams with hydrogeological, geochemical, civil/geotechnical, and hydrotechnical disciplines.
- Development of water and load balance models to inform site water management decisions.
- Hydraulic analysis and design of pumps, pipelines, channels, and spillways.
- Climatic and hydrological modelling in various geographies to inform site water management.
- Water quality and treatment process assessments to inform water treatment design.
- Site visits and field work in Ontario, Quebec, and eastern Canada; opportunities for global projects.
- Contribution to the advancement of SRK’s engineering practice.
- Participation in business development and mentoring colleagues.
Essential Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in environmental, civil, water resources, chemical, or related engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant consulting experience in the mining industry.
- Strong analytical and computer skills (MS Office).
- Registered or eligible for professional registration (OIQ, PEng).
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Commitment to safe work practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to take on new challenges.
- Willingness to travel locally, nationally, and potentially internationally.
- Ability to work independently, on-site, and in remote locations.
- Ability to work long hours in the field, tolerating variable weather conditions.
- Bilingual English/French is a strong asset.
Valuable Skills
- Experience with specialized engineering design/analysis software (GoldSim, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, PCSWMM, WMS, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Civil 3D, etc.).
- Experience with data science, coding (Python, R, Visual Basic), or AI (Claude Code) is an asset.
- Construction QA/QC or general construction experience is an asset.
- Graduate degree in a related field is a plus.
Benefits & Compensation
Estimated base pay: $115,000–$145,000. Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience. The role offers an attractive compensation package, diversity of projects and clients in a non‑hierarchical environment, and prospect to purchase company shares.
