Lightfox Games is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Senior Gameplay Engineer to join our Vancouver, British Columbia based team to work on an unannounced mobile game for a world-class IP and Publisher. This is a fully remote role. Vancouver-based team members may be asked to travel to our Seattle office once or twice a year for on-sites. Responsibilities
Design, implement, and iterate on core gameplay systems including abilities in combat, meta progression systems, social features, and events
Collaborate closely with designers and artists to bring game features from prototype to polished, shippable state
Understand the “Why” of the features you’re building, and collaborate with the team to find creative solutions to enhance development speed and quality
Own features end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through optimization, bug fixing, and live support
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented C# code within Unity, setting standards for the broader engineering team
Profile and optimize gameplay systems to meet mobile performance targets across a range of devices
Contribute to technical architecture decisions and help establish scalable engineering practices for a growing team Requirements
5+ years of professional game development experience,
including senior-level ownership of gameplay systems on at least one shipped title
Strong proficiency in C# and deep hands-on experience with Unity
Experience leveraging LLMs to create production-ready client and server code
Proven ability to implement and iterate on responsive, high-quality gameplay feel in a live or shipped product
Solid understanding of mobile performance constraints, including CPU/GPU profiling, memory management, and optimization techniques
Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working cross-functionally with design, art, and engineering in a small, fast-moving team
Self-motivated and comfortable with ownership in an ambiguous, early-stage workplace
Nice to have
Experience shipping gameplay systems for mobile free-to-play games
Experience with ARPG or 4X game mechanics, combat systems, or progression loops
Familiarity with live ops pipelines, feature flagging, and remote configuration systems
Experience working within an established IP or licensed property Compensation
CA$120,000 – CA$150,000 depending on experience, plus health/vision/dental coverage, RRSP matching, and equity.
