We are currently seeking a Senior-level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with a strong interest in being part of a purpose‑driven organization that focuses on helping our clients, colleagues, and communities thrive.
Responsibilities A successful applicant will work with a multidisciplinary group of engineers and designers providing technical services to public and private‑sector clients.
Primary duties include control systems engineering, process control strategy planning, automation designs, construction support services, and planning studies with detailed analyses related to water and wastewater treatment plants and related facilities.
Design Activities Develop preliminary scope definitions, budgets, and staffing plans; field review and evaluation of existing equipment, control systems (hardware and software), and control panels; prepare studies, conceptual reports, and technical memorandums; conduct I&C; engineering and analyses related to various water, wastewater, and industrial waste treatment facilities; support multi‑disciplinary teams with engineering design projects and studies; develop construction documents (drawings, specifications, and schedules).

Point‑to‑Point Wiring Diagrams
Instrument installation details
Development of technical specifications, instrument datasheets, and detailed control strategies/narratives.
Senior review and evaluation of electrical schematic diagrams and plans; review and evaluation of mechanical specifications with controls content; review and evaluation of process flow diagrams and design criteria; coordination of I&C; deliverables with the process, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
Construction Support Activities Review of contractor and supplier submittals, participation in construction site inspections, support of equipment and control system commissioning, start‑up, and performance testing, and assistance with system troubleshooting.
Marketing Support Assisting marketing team with project pursuit strategies
Presentation material development
Presentation participation
Serving as I&C; discipline subject matter expert
Capabilities and Credentials Solid interpersonal skills for working in a team environment (virtual or in‑person). Strong oral and written communication skills to convey project I&C; needs to project managers and clients, and to formulate those needs into comprehensive plans and specifications. Ability to mentor junior to intermediate staff and work with remotely located project team members. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Education and Experience Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering is required; 15 years of experience in instrumentation and controls.
Professional Engineering Registration Professional Engineering registration (P.Eng.) or the ability to obtain within 18 months of hire date is required.

Pay Range Locations Outside of Lower Mainland – BC – Min Salary $128,600 – Max Salary $192,900
Locations in Lower Mainland – BC – Min Salary $136,300 – Max Salary $204,500
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec, certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
