Opportunity
Stantec is one of the top engineering and consulting firms supporting the Water Industry. We are seeking a Senior‑level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who is passionate about helping clients, colleagues, and communities thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical services to public and private‑sector clients as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Perform control systems engineering, process control strategy planning, automation designs, construction support services, and planning studies with detailed analyses for water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Plan, design, program, and upgrade PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
- Support multi‑disciplinary teams with engineering design projects and studies.
- Develop construction documents (drawings, specifications, and schedules) including P&ID;’s, network communication architecture diagrams, control panel details, CCTV and access control system drawings, point‑to‑point wiring diagrams, and instrument installation details.
- Prepare technical specifications, instrument datasheets, and detailed control strategies/narratives.
- Senior review and evaluation of electrical schematic diagrams and plans,
mechanical specifications, process flow diagrams, and design criteria.
- Coordinate I&C; deliverables with process, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Review contractor and supplier submittals, participate in construction site inspections, support commissioning, start‑up, performance testing, and system troubleshooting.
- Assist marketing team with project pursuit strategies, presentation material development, and participation.
- Work safely following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong interpersonal skills for working in a team environment (virtual or in-person).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey I&C; needs to project managers, clients, and to formulate comprehensive plans and specifications.
- Ability to mentor junior to intermediate staff and work with remotely located project team members.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering is required.
- 15 years of experience in instrumentation and controls.
- Professional Engineering registration (P.Eng.)
or the ability to obtain registration within 18 months of hire.
Pay Range
- Locations Outside of Lower Mainland, BC – Min Salary $128,600 – Max Salary $192,900
- Location in Lower Mainland, BC – Min Salary $136,300 – Max Salary $204,500
Pay Transparency
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Part‑time compensation is prorated.
