Position Overview Reporting to the responsible General Superintendent – Mechanical, this role will support work within the Mechanical work stream including key nuclear steam supply components e.g., Reactor Pressure Vessel & Reactor Internals, Fine Motion Control Rod Drives, Refueling Outage Tooling & Bridges. During the readiness phase the Superintendent will assist in construction planning, reviews, and fit for purpose tool development. In execution they will be responsible for the supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities for multiple scopes of work in compliance with the contract and the job cost estimate and ensure all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship.

Location The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities Accountable for work planning and execution on the project including methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals and work schedules





Ensure alignment and partnering with the alliance partners.

Monitor and review Plans/Schedules and identify risks, and issues

Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for General Foreman.

Responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of safety, quality and human performance programs

Ensures that Aecon policies and project procedures are being adhered to and followed by project personnel

Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.

Assume responsibility for productivity of direct hire trade labour and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and tools & equipment and contractual performance of the project

Understanding and support of applicable trade agreements.

Application of home company discipline policies and appropriate escalation of performance concerns to Construction Manager

Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements.

Review and provide support in the creation of Construction Work Packages

Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Construction Work Packages and project schedule and budget

Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.

Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality

Other duties as required or assigned

Other Duties And Responsibilities Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.

Carry out site safety inspections.

Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement

Supervisory Responsibilities Review and approve timesheets, expense reports, vacation requests, and training requests, within Limits of Authority.

Responsible for performance management of all direct-report employees, including: coaching/mentoring, assistance with career planning and training,



preparation of yearly and mid-year performance reviews

Ensure all project staff and direct reports understand and comply with applicable code of conduct policies (Aecon and customer policy)

Qualifications Minimum of 7 years Mechanical construction and subcontractor supervision experience

3 years reactor refurbishments and assembly experience is an asset

Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements

Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.

Ability to plan and manage installation sequences, coordinate with engineering to ensure constructability, and communicate updates to project teams and vendors.

Experience in managing complex nuclear construction projects

Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints and specifications

Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry

Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Base Compensation: $155,000/yr - $165,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
