Join our dynamic team as a Truck/Trailer Shop Parts Controller, where your expertise will drive efficiency and excellence in parts management for our service and repair operations. In this energetic role, you'll oversee inventory control, procurement, and sourcing of parts essential for maintaining a fleet of trucks and trailers. Your mechanical knowledge and supply chain savvy will ensure timely availability of parts, supporting our commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesParts Procurement
- Source and purchase truck and trailer parts, components, and shop supplies required for repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Obtain competitive pricing and negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
- Ensure all required parts are ordered promptly to avoid repair delays.
- Purchase quality OEM or approved aftermarket parts according to company standards.
- Process emergency parts orders for roadside repairs when required.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory of truck, trailer, tire, and shop parts.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder frequently used items before shortages occur.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
- Label, organize, and store inventory in designated locations.
- Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Remove obsolete or damaged inventory following company procedures.
Shop Coordination
- Work closely with mechanics to identify required parts for repairs.
- Ensure mechanics receive the correct parts promptly to reduce downtime.
- Track outstanding backorders and provide updates to the Shop Manager.
- Coordinate parts returns, warranty claims, and supplier credits.
- Assist in scheduling repairs based on parts availability.
Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parts suppliers and vendors.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on pricing, delivery, quality, and service.
- Source new suppliers when better pricing or availability is required.
- Maintain vendor contact information and purchasing records.
Documentation and Record Keeping
- Create and process purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records.
- Match purchase orders with invoices before submitting for payment.
- Maintain warranty records and supporting documentation.
- Track parts usage by truck, trailer, and repair order.
Cost Control
- Monitor parts spending and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
- Prevent unnecessary purchases by utilizing existing inventory.
- Compare supplier pricing to maximize value.
- Assist management with monthly inventory valuation and reporting.
Health & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parts storage area.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials, oils, batteries, and chemicals.
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in heavy-duty truck and trailer parts, fleet maintenance, or automotive parts management.
- Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer components, including:
- Engines
- Transmissions
- Brakes
- Air systems
- Suspension
- Electrical components
- Tires and wheels
- Lighting
- Trailer components
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
