Peeters Mushroom Farm is seeking a full-time Weigher/Sorter to join our team!

SUMMARY

Weighers/Sorters weigh and sort mushrooms according to grade (#1 or #2 mushroom) and also according to size (#1’s, buttons, large, stuffers, silvers, cannery slice). The job involves a lot of repetitive tasks as well as a lot of standing, bending, lifting, and reaching. There are four basic positions in this area of the farm.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to)

- Packaging Machine - The weighing individual cups/trays on a scale and places them on a conveyor belt and through a sticker machine. The trays of mushrooms are stacked 17-20 trays high on a skid.
- Working in bulk area, individual is responsible for sorting and weighting, 5 and 10 lb. boxes and plastic trays of mushrooms.
- Responsible for filling cups, taking cups out of boxes that they are shipped in and placing them on hard-plastic trays and stacking the trays on skids.
- Fully trained and approved, Weigher/Sorters are responsible for moving carts and skids as needed, in and out of coolers.
- Assist with skidding boxes of mushrooms for shipping, cleaning mushrooms and debris from their work stations, catching mushrooms in boxes from the slicing machine,



assembling cardboard boxes and lids.
- Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

- No experience is required as full training is provided.
- Ability to speak and read basic English is required

WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES

- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work long hours with repetitive tasks.
- Ability to handle heavy workloads, which can be physically demanding.
- Ability to distinguish between colors, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to bend, crouch, stand and kneel for long extended periods.
- Ability to work at a high level height when needed.
- Ability to work in various environments: cold refrigerated, dusty, strong odours.
