Position Profile: Welder

This full time position is based out of our Portage la Prairie location, reporting directly to the Foremen, and working closely with the Field Manager and Supervisors. The successful candidate will be a reliable, safety focused team player who is comfortable working in a fabrication and industrial workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Field Manager and Supervisors, the Welder will be expected to:

- Operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other equipment as trained
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
- Perform general welding and fabrication support tasks as assigned
- Assist welders and mechanics with shop and field work
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Follow all Portage Iron Ltd. operating procedures
- Adhere strictly to company safety and health policies
- Contribute positively to a strong safety culture

Qualifications

Required

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. and performing manual tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable




- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic and attention to safety
- Considered an Asset
- Welding or fabrication industry experience
- Ability to read and interpret construction or fabrication drawings
- Mechanical aptitude or background
- Experience with shop or industrial equipmentDesired Traits (Best Practice Fit)
- Consistent attendance and strong reliability record
- Willingness to learn and improve skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Pride in workmanship and shop standards

- Monday to Friday
- Full time, 40 hours per week
- Statutory holidays off
- Overtime: may be available depending on workload
