Role Description The Yoga Instructor will lead safe, inclusive, and engaging yoga classes for students of varying experience levels in an on-site studio located in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This contract role includes planning and delivering class sequences, offering modifications, and providing mindful guidance aligned with the studio’s philosophy of transformation, self-care, and wellness.
Day-to-day responsibilities involve preparing the studio space, welcoming participants, facilitating grounding and relaxation practices, and closing classes with thoughtful reflection. The instructor will collaborate with studio staff to support special events or workshops, maintain a clean and calming environment,
and promote a culture of respect and mindfulness. The role may also include light administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, communicating schedule updates, and engaging with the community in a professional and caring manner.
Qualifications
- Formal yoga training and certification (e.g., 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training or equivalent), with a strong understanding of anatomy, alignment, and safe movement practices.
- Experience leading group and/or one-on-one yoga classes, with the ability to design sequences for different levels, ages, and physical abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to create an inclusive, trauma-informed, and supportive setting for all participants.
- Demonstrated commitment to holistic wellness, mindfulness, and self-care, with the ability to integrate these principles into teaching and class themes.
- Reliable, punctual, and organized, with the capacity to manage class schedules, prepare the space, and collaborate effectively with studio staff and practitioners.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it; experience in complementary practices such as meditation, breathwork, or restorative yoga is an asset.
- Comfort working within a diverse community and upholding non-discriminatory, inclusive practices that respect all identities and backgrounds.
