Position Summary:We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Finance for our client in Calgary! The VP of Finance is responsible for financial strategy, liquidity management, and risk oversight with a particular focus on hedging, working capital, and EBITDA-to-cash conversion. The successful candidate will take proactive steps to manage cash flow and report to the Management Team on the status of all financial matters, including hedge exposure, cash flow management, working capital, and financial KPIs.Primary Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of financial forecasting models to support strategic decision-makingDirect the budgeting processOversee capital allocation decisions by evaluating investment opportunitiesMonitor and manage compliance with debt covenants and financing agreements, proactively identifying risks and recommending corrective actions when necessary.Cash Flow & Working Capital
Monitor and manage daily cash balances, banking relationships, and prudent cash reserves to ensure the organization maintains sufficient liquidity to meet operational and strategic obligations.Oversee accounts receivable operations, including invoicing, collections, and credit management,
to improve collection performance and reduce outstanding receivables.Direct accounts payable process to ensure timely vendor payments while maximizing available cash and maintaining robust supplier relationships.Optimize the organization’s cash conversion cycle by improving the efficiency of receivables, payables, and inventory-related cash flows.Hedging & Financial Risk Management
Monitor and manage hedge positions to ensure they remain aligned with operational requirements and approved risk management policies.Evaluate financial exposure against business demand, contractual obligations, and projected load requirements to maintain appropriate hedge coverage.Continuously assess market conditions and recommend strategic adjustments to protect the organization’s financial performance.Reporting & KPIs
Develop, monitor, and report on key financial performance indicators, including EBITDA, cash flow, profitability, providing actionable insight to executive leadership.Analyze margins to identify trends, improve financial performance, and support strategic investment decisions.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with executive leadership, accounting team and controller.Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field10-20+ years’ experienceStrong Background In:Private equity-backed companies or energyCash flowDebt / lendersRisk managementExperience leading teamsStrong communication and executive presentation skillsReports to:
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Compensation:
Base Salary: $165,000 - $200,000Bonus: 10-20%
