The Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NL Housing) is a crown corporation whose mandate is to develop and administer housing assistance policy and programs for the benefit of low to moderate income households throughout the province. As the largest landlord in the Province, NL Housing manages a portfolio of over 5,500 units province‑wide. The services to clients provide safe, reliable and affordable housing, essential to the social, financial and physical well‑being of individuals, families and communities. Housing needs range from homelessness and at‑risk homelessness to low‑income households needing assistance to pay rent or complete repairs on their homes.
About the Department/Region
The Central Region maintains and supports all NL Housing rental properties in the Grand Falls and Gander areas and delivers a variety of programs for low to moderate income households and homeowners, including the Provincial Home Repair, Home Modification, Home Energy Savings, Partner Managed Housing and Rent Supplement Programs.

Salary Scale: $70,434 to $78,824 per annum (CG‑39, $38.70 to $43.31 per hour), 35‑hour work week
Duties
The successful candidate will report to the Regional Director and engage with tenants using NLHC’s eviction prevention framework to maintain stable housing. Responsibilities include initiating contact, conducting follow‑up activities such as telephone calls and home visits, educating tenants on rights and responsibilities, connecting clients to supports, and supporting the development of tenant action plans. The role also involves short‑term crisis response for clients with complex needs, mental health, or addiction issues, ongoing capacity building, needs assessment, and referral to community, government, and health services.
Community development support to the regional community centre includes attending quarterly program development committee meetings and ensuring compliance with funding guidelines. The incumbent will collaborate with NLHC staff, other regions, and departments such as Housing Officers, Eviction Prevention Coordinator, and the Community Partnerships and Homelessness team. Case notes, reports, and recommendations are prepared in line with Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW) documentation standards. The incumbent demonstrates accountability through documentation and monthly statistics reporting. Other related duties may be required.
Screening Criteria
Bachelor of Social Work Degree
Experience in the provision of professional Social Work services
Experience in delivering services related to housing and homelessness (asset)
Experience in the delivery of non‑profit housing (asset)
Assessment Criteria
Knowledge of professional social work practice and standards (including assessment/interviewing and debriefing)
Knowledge of housing and homelessness issues and best practices
Knowledge of eviction prevention techniques and Housing First principles (asset)
Workload management skills
Written communication and documentation skills
Ability to think critically
