The School for the Arts – Drama invites applications for Sessional Lecturers to teach the following courses during the following sessions:

2026-2027 Regular Session: Fall Term (202609)
Course: DRAM 111.3 (01) Indigenous Performance Methods
Term: Term One (September to December)

Delivery: In-person

Schedule: Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 10:00-11:20 AM

Qualifications: MFA degree with a focus in acting or equivalent acting experience and experience in teaching introductory acting to undergraduate students. Knowledge of performance in relation to voice and speech training would be considered an asset.

Applicants must possess knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture. Instructor must be able to communicate verbally in one or more languages of First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit; have experience in language immersion techniques, in particular the "communicative method" of language acquisition; teach the language using a variety of traditional and contemporary methodologies, and especially via performance.

Qualifications: MFA degree with a focus in acting or equivalent acting experience and experience in teaching introductory acting to undergraduate students. Qualified applicants will possess knowledge on Métis history, Michif language, and have experience in language immersion techniques, in particular the "communicative method" of language acquisition; teach the language using a variety of traditional and contemporary methodologies, and especially via performance.

Familiarity with Indigenous perspectives and research methodologies as they connect to relevant academic disciplines, and to the development of skills for student success in those disciplines

Experience teaching using methods that promote collaborative and peer‑to‑peer learning in small course cohorts

Experience teaching mature student cohorts and students with non‑standard K‑12 preparation in relevant academic disciplines

Demonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to pedagogic praxis (reflection and reflexive adaptation of teaching)

Experience teaching intermediate or advanced acting courses, and evidence of effective teaching in text analysis, voice, and heightened language performance.

Course: DRAM 366.3 (01) Fundamentals of Movement 1 & DRAM 468.3 (01) Expressive Movement 1 (dual‑delivery; both movement courses meet at the same time)

Qualifications: MFA in Acting or Theatre Performance, or equivalent professional experience. Expertise in classical and historical performance including Greek, Medieval, and Restoration theatre.

Experience teaching at the post‑secondary level, including intermediate or advanced courses, required. Evidence of effective teaching in text analysis, performance styles, and historically informed approaches to forms such as tragedy, comedy of manners, farce, absurdism, expressionism, and epic theatre essential, with ability to mentor students in advanced performance practices.

Course: DRAM 368.3 (02) Fundamentals of Movement 2 & DRAM 469.3 (02) Expressive Movement 2 (dual‑delivery; both movement courses meet at the same time)

A valid driver’s license is required for any off‑campus courses. Appointment periods include additional days in recognition of preparation and marking time required. Courses may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
