JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Chelmsford

Wage: To be negotiated based on experience and knowledge.

Rotating Schedule:

1 week: **Monday to Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.; 1 week Monday to Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

**$1.50 afternoon shift premium
** Option to work steady afternoon shift

Job Summary

Posting to fill a vacancy.

The Machinist, position is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of multi axis CNC and manual machines and operating portable align boring equipment and other shop related equipment. The Machinist must have the ability to adapt to learning new processes and techniques and maintain knowledge of the duties of working in a machine shop environment. This position requires 2 years of experience and post secondary education in a machinist certificate is preferred.

Key Areas of Responsibility and Associated Duties

▪ Maintain current knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machine ability of materials and layout techniques

▪ Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operation and set up requirements

▪ Effectively select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on a variety of machines, such as mills, lathes, grinders, shapers and the slotter.

▪ Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speeds and feeds, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media





▪ Train workers (where applicable) in the operation of equipment and instructs less experienced machinists in safe and effective set up operation techniques

Qualifications

Minimum Education

▪ High school diploma or equivalent
▪ Qualified machinist or equivalent certificate preferred

Minimum Experience:

▪ Minimum of 2 years extensive experience in the machine shop trade of in-company or equivalent
▪ Experience working in an ISO quality environment is required

Special Training or Certificates

▪ Current WHMIS training is required

Skills and Abilities

▪ Demonstrate and apply strong problem solving skills in day to day operations
▪ Review processes for potential problems and opportunities for improvement and collaborates with appropriate personnel to resolve issues
▪ Ability to effectively communicate and problem solve within a team environment
▪ Self starter with the ability to work effectively with very little to no supervision
▪ Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations as outlined in the Occupational Health and

Safety Act and maintain a strong commitment to the B&D; Manufacturing Safety Program at all times

Working Conditions

▪ Work involves considerable stooping, bending, lifting, and standing
▪ Work involves frequent movements regularly required using the wrists, hands, legs, and arms

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $24.96-$42.03 per hour
