PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor of Education
- Ontario Teaching Certificate (OTC) Members in positive standing – Primary/Junior Qualifications
- Required three years of teaching experience, at least 2 of which are in special education
- Prior experience working with a diverse student body
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that reflect professionalism at all times
- Genuine care for children and a passion for teaching

INDIVIDUALS POSSESSING THE FOLLOWING SKILLS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY:

- Attend and participate in the Annual Review of the IEP student Case Conferences
- Ensure health, safety & welfare of children
- Assist with the implementation of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student served
- Plan and implement educational goals and objectives in the Educational Plan for each child assigned by planning and providing instruction on developmentally appropriate activities
- Conduct formal and informal assessments for each student
- Develop educational curriculum in conjunction with the Educational Plan




- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records concerning each individual in the classroom
- Complete all required program and student documentation in a timely fashion
- Communicate effectively and positively with parents and professionals
- Maintain an orderly, clean and attractive classroom setting, including keeping equipment and materials in good condition and requesting repair or replacement when necessary
- Maintain student/family confidentiality
- Maintain a high level of professionalism as a role model for all team members
- Write annual goals, behavioral objectives and intervention strategies corresponding with assessment in consultation with other disciplines

A Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
