Established in 2007, the London Heritage Council (LHC) is a not-for-profit umbrella organization with a mission to inspire, nurture, and manage historical and cultural initiatives in the region. Events and Programs Coordinator:

The London Heritage Council is looking to hire an Events and Programs Coordinator to assist the Director of Operations with the planning, development, and execution of Night Market, Canada Day, and Doors Open London.

The Events and Programs Coordinator will work with the Director of Operations at LHC to plan and execute the coordination of Night Market and Canada Day London. Regular tasks will include sourcing vendors, bringing sponsors, entertainment, tents, chairs, tables, program planning, volunteer coordination, communications, and other event administration. The Events and Programs Coordinator will also help with event debriefs and wrap-ups.

The remaining time will be spent by the Events and Programs Coordinator working with the Director of Operations to organize and execute the 25th annual Doors Open event in London.



They will liaise with participating sites and organizations to confirm content for the Doors Open London event weekend. The Events and Programs Coordinator will contact the provincial office of the Ontario Heritage Trust to upload all Doors Open London information on the provincial website.

Required Qualifications:

- The applicant must be a recent graduate.
- A bachelor's degree in event management, public history, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 1 years' experience/internship in event and community management or administration.
- As this job is funded through the Young Canada Works program; Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or refugee status is required.

Event and Program Management and Administration:

- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage details precisely.
- Previous experience supporting and coordinating large scale events
- Proven ability to plan and execute complex, time-limited projects
- Expertise with volunteer support, training, and coordination
- Ability to liaise with local vendors, heritage and museum organizations, and entertainment and advertising agencies
- Familiarity and comfort with delivering a strong presence in a hectic event setting
- Monitor event attendees, manage event day scheduling, and direct visitors to event features and entertainment.




- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to accommodate special events
- Willingness to receive feedback and take direction
- Can work independently while demonstrating a team approach in day-to-day activities.
- Take action to avoid or solve problems and create opportunities for positive change.
- Approachable; demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness.

Communications

- Familiarity with basic website updates
- Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals at all organizational levels
- Comfort with public speaking
- Ability to communicate at an advanced level (verbally and in writing) in English
- Ability to communicate in French is an asset

Pay: $17.60 per hour
