Full Time First Aid Professionals Wanted

We’re looking for WorkSafe BC OFA3/Advanced First Aid Attendants with at least 1 year of prior OFA3/AFA experience to join our team at New Afton Mine in Kamloops, BC.

This position requires candidates to already live in or immediately around Kamloops, BC. No lodging, meals, or relocation assistance are provided, and remote or fly-in/fly-out arrangements are not available at this worksite.
This position involves 12-hour shifts over 7 consecutive days. Commuting long distances before and after shifts of this length creates a foreseeable and unacceptable fatigue and road safety risk. This geographical requirement is a health and safety measure, consistent with WorkSafe BC fatigue management principles and our organizational duty of care.

Job Highlights
Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off, Monday-Sunday
Hours: Day Shift: 06:00 AM - 18:00 PM -or- Night Shift: 18:00 PM - 06:00 AM

Type: Full Time Positions
Pay: $3,956.00/month to start for certified WorkSafe BC AFA/OFA3 Attendants
Duties: Occupational First Aid, Visitor Check-ins, Site Access Management
Required Licenses/Certifications: WorkSafe BC Advanced First Aid (formerly OFA3) Certificate, and BC Class 5 Drivers License (or equivalent).
Other Licenses/Certifications: A BC Security Guard license is an asset to start,
and will be required within 3-6 months of hiring or as agreed during the interview process.
Responsibilities
Working together with 1-3 coworkers at any given time, you would be responsible for a variety of First Aid and Visitor Check-in duties to begin with. Duties would expand to Security tasks once you are licensed. This role reports to the Site Supervisors team.
First Aid/Medical First Response
- Administer First Aid in accordance with WorkSafe BC’s Advanced First Aid Attendant scope of practice, including referrals to outside medical treatment
- Record and report incident information as per established protocols
- Liaison with local fire, ambulance, or police in case of emergency
Visitor Support
- Visitor check-in
- Visitor PPE assignment
- Providing road use orientations and directions to incoming visitors
- Maintaining clear communication via email, phone, and radio with the Security team and site personnel
Security (once license obtained)
- Monitoring and controlling site access
- Conducting site patrols using company vehicle
- Preparing detailed reports with a keen eye for accuracy
What We're Looking For
Certifications:
- Unrestricted BC Class 5 Driver's License with a clear abstract (equivalent from another province can also be accepted with conditions)
- Valid WorkSafe BC Advanced First Aid (AFA) Certification (formerly called WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 3/OFA3), or equivalent*
- BC Security Guard license is an asset, but not required immediately
*The following can be accepted in place of a WorkSafe BC OFA3/AFA certificate:
- Valid Emergency Medical Assistant (EMA) License issued by the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board of B.C. (EMALB)
- Valid 40-hour Occupational First Aid completion certificate from another province, with conditions
Professional Experience:
- Proven background in Occupational First Aid or medical first response within industrial, construction, or similar high-demand environment, with at least 1 year of experience
Additional Requirements:
- Must currently reside in or immediately around Kamloops, BC.
- Clear criminal record
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- Willingness and ability to obtain a BC Security Guard license after hiring
