Summary of Position The F&B; Staff delivers outstanding hospitality to all of our guests, showcasing their passion for hospitality, food, and wine together. Building a thorough knowledge of our menu and products, the F&B; Staff ensure our guests feel welcome, informed, and leave with expectations exceeded. Personality, confidence, patience and an ability to think quickly whilst managing many tasks simultaneously.
The F&B; Staff has a dynamic opportunity to work in our restaurant operations and our event programming (at the discretion of the management team).
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Be on the floor in full uniform and ready to go for scheduled start time.
- Warmly welcome guests upon entrance and thank guests upon departure.
- Act as the point of reference for guests who need assistance or information, cater to guests who may require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly).
- Understand guest’s needs and provide personalized solutions by suggesting activities and facilities provided by Lightfoot & Wolfville.
- Respond to complaints by finding the appropriate manager or supervisor for a solution.
- Meet with the team to review daily specials, changes to the menu or general operation updates.
- Refer to info sheet for general operations and BEO’s for event specific details. Understand all details listed on these documents and be prepared to answer questions from guests.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of Lightfoot & Wolfville culinary offerings, whether that be the restaurant or events menus, and be able to provide guests with brief explanations of each menu item.
- Present menu by providing detailed information and recommendations (e.g. about portions,
ingredients or potential food allergies) while upselling when appropriate.
- Prepare tables by sanitizing at the beginning of each shift, throughout service and setting as required.
- Take accurate food and drinks orders, using the POS according to proper table and seat numbers. Rely any dietary restrictions or allergies to the culinary team.
- Make educated wine pairing suggestions for guests’ food orders.
- Serve food and drink orders according to table and seat number.
- Ensure work spaces and dining areas are kept clean, safe and organized.
- Deliver checks and collect bill payments.
- Clear dirty dishes from tables using industry standard methods (to be reviewed in training).
- Ensure guests always have a full beverage, including water, while adhering to safe service practices. Provide wine bottle service at the table.
- Refer to the info sheet or BEO for details of set up or tear down required for that day outside of the normal daily duties.
- Check guests’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Help facilitate a safe setting by alerting management to any safety concerns you may have.
- Communicate/collaborate with team members across all departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Monitor guests for intoxication and communicate with other team members and management which guests need to be monitored closely.
- Comply with and follow all Lightfoot & Wolfville health and safety policies and procedures.
- Follow and comply with any applicable government mandated policies. (e.g Serve Right Server Certification)
- Contribute to an overall pleasant guest experience to increase the Lightfoot & Wolfville reputation and ensure sustainable growth.
- Act as advocate for the Nova Scotia wine industry and answer questions about local tourism points of attraction.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of Lightfoot & Wolfville wine portfolio, business pillars and philosophies, and outstanding hospitality standards.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of Lightfoot & Wolfville culinary offerings, whether that be the restaurant or events menus, and be able to provide guests with brief explanations of each menu item.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Food Safety Certification desirable
- Must be 19 years or older
- 2 years or more of food & beverage service experience required
- Serve Right Server certification required

Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 4 months
Pay: $16.75 per hour
