Children’s Summer Programmer
Fort Macleod & District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS)
Fort Macleod & District FCSS is hiring two Children’s Summer Programmers to help deliver engaging summer programming for children, youth, and families in our community.
This position is focused on facilitating structured activities that build confidence, social skills, positive relationships, and community connection.
Position Details
- Term: Temporary (8 weeks)
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Wage: $16.50 per hour
- Location: Fort Macleod, AB
- Start Date: June 2026 (exact date TBD)
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead inclusive recreational and skill-building activities for children and youth.
- Facilitate programs that encourage teamwork, cooperation, confidence, and positive peer relationships.
- Create a safe and welcoming setting where participants feel included and supported.
- Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and respect for others.
- Assist with FCSS initiatives that strengthen family engagement and community connection.
- Help promote programs through posters, social media, and community outreach.
- Prepare activity spaces and materials, track attendance, and gather participant feedback.
- Work collaboratively with FCSS staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, youth, or community programs is an asset.
- Understanding of how activities support children’s social development and life skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable leading indoor and outdoor activities.
- Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is an asset.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (required).
Working Conditions
Programming takes place in both indoor and outdoor spaces including parks and playgrounds. The role involves outdoor activities, physical movement, and occasional evening or weekend community events.
Eligibility
This position is partially funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must:
- Be 15–30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
