Your Opportunity
This “rural” 88-bed Long Term Care unit is located in the Drumheller Health Center.
You are a suitable candidate if you have a strong interest and the required skill set to provide care to the elderly, including those diagnosed with dementia.
You will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients.
As a member of the nursing care team, along with interdisciplinary staff, you will utilize your knowledge, skills and abilities to competently provide client-centered care.
You will be responsible to provide personal care and assist with activities of daily living according to the client’s care plan.
You will assist clients to maximize their optimum level of independence.
You will provide emotional support by being a good listener, being supportive, friendly, sincere and interacting in a positive & optimistic manner.
You will perform health care duties within your scope of practice, and per the client’s care plan.
Drumheller is situated in a valley, in the Alberta Badlands, 135 km from Calgary, and 160 km from Red Deer.
With a population of 8,029, Drumheller residents benefit from a wide variety of recreational facilities and amenities such as the Aquaplex, the Memorial Arena and the Badlands Community Facility.
Description
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures.
In this role,
you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities.
You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing.
Working under the supervision of a regulated health qualified, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.

Required Qualifications
Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
