This is a current opening and we are looking for one full-time Assistant Supervisor

A current Registered Early Childhood Educator certificate is a requirement and so is at least one year of experience in a childcare setting. Wage: Minimum $26.36 - 29.76 including subsidies and negotiable depending on experience.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be required to assist in managing the effectiveness of 5-15 floor staff depending on the site and season. They are primarily responsible for leading and mentoring staff and students, ensuring robust programming is executed in all programs for all age groups. They would be responsible for monitoring and delegating administrative duties to floor staff and ensuring all documentation related to programming is complete and accurate. This includes digital messages to parents via Parent app, monthly documentation, and program planning. The applicant must understand the importance of communication and thorough recording via compliance sheets and Microsoft Teams. They must be effective in mediating conflict, behaviour management and delegation of duties. They would be required to be available for both open and close shifts and divide their time evenly between Main Site and Bridgeview Site.

They will assist the Directors for day-to-day operations and participate in ensuring compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements.





The successful applicant must have a working knowledge of computers and computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Knowledge of the Parent App is an asset.

They will exhibit knowledgeable of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Canada’s Food Guide, Health Act, and the Child and Family Services Act. They will have ability to meet the specifications of these Acts and any other regulations that apply to this position.

Leadership Responsibilities: Assistant Supervisors are responsible for supporting staff in the day-to-day operations of the Centre and assisting in assuring compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements. This role works closely with Team Leads, floor staff, parents, and members of the community to deliver a high-quality program.

Wage Enhancement Grant (WEG)

Conditions: Employees eligible and receiving WEG benefits must:

▪ Have an associated base wage excluding prior year’s wage enhancement of less than the annual wage cap amount;

▪ Be in a position categorized as a childcare supervisor, RECE, or otherwise counted toward adult to child ratios under the Child Care Early Years Act; and

▪ Spend at least 25 per cent of their time to support ratio requirements; in which case the staff would be eligible for wage enhancement for the hours worked in the eligible position supporting ratio.

Hours of Work: You must be available to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:30 pm, for 6-to-9-hour shifts with the expectation of some evenings and weekends to accommodate activities such as staff meetings, events, or scheduling conflicts. Employees who work 30 hours per week or more are considered full-time.

Working Conditions:



The Point Edward Early Learning Centre can be a busy and noisy working environment, working with groups of 10-30 children, between the ages of 16 months and 12 years.

Physical demands of the role require lifting and carrying children and equipment up to 50 pounds. Playing and spending time working with children on the floor requires frequent kneeling and bending. Tending to children with special needs who require additional support and care may also be required, including carrying them up and down stairs.

Outdoor play is an important component of our program, and we seize as many opportunities to be outside as possible, including braving the elements and accompanying children on outings where walking is required. The willingness and ability to do this is vital.

Employees will encounter children who are ill and/or contagious. Taking appropriate precautions, the employee must ensure the health and safety of all children, employees, parents, and themselves.

From time-to-time situations arise where employees must deal with physically abusive children, putting their personal safety at risk.
