Sasamat Outdoor Centre prides itself on creating an engaging and supportive community where children are made to feel included in the camp culture. The supportive nature of the camp allows for campers to try new activities and develop new skills with the help of caring staff members. Sasamat’s summer camp and Outdoor Centre is located just outside of Port Moody in Belcarra Regional Park.

Sasamat currently has openings for a few overnight summer positions. Overnight camps run from Monday to Friday where staff members live on site for the duration of the camp session.

Overnight Camp Counsellor:

- Overnight counsellors lead a group of campers through daily activities and experience with support, enthusiasm, kindness, and patience. Overnight staff live on site from Monday to Friday (with an option to arrive Sunday evenings). The team rotates age groups over the summer and the experience includes an off-site cabin camping trip for the oldest camper groups. Overnight staff are also given a scheduled week off in the summer. This fun and rewarding summer experience is a outstanding entry for those who want to work at a summer camp and have previous experience leading youth groups.

Summer Camp Coordinator:

- A Summer Camp Coordinator is a supervisor role designed to support the summer staff team through their experience, knowledge, and leadership. All coordinators will demonstrate themselves to be an approachable staff member willing to give advice, guidance, and answer questions around; group management, first aid, program instruction, etc.




- Coordinators help design and deliver creative programs during staff training and throughout the summer in collaboration with the coordinator team. Coordinators provide supervision on a rotating basis for cabin overnights once per week. Summer coordinators rotate and share the responsibility of leading the off-site Belcarra Day Camp and staff for a duration of one-week, on a rotating basis throughout the summer. Coordinators should expect to lead Belcarra 2-3 times over a summer.
- Summer Camp coordinators are responsible for helping supervise and coordinate the camp programs from Monday to Friday with the assistance of the Summer Camp Director. They will be responsible for helping support and supervise up to 13 other staff members. Camp coordinator roles are overnight starting from Sunday evening until Friday. Coordinators are given traditional shared summer camp accommodations separate from campers and supervised staff.

Counsellor in Training Instructor:

- The C.I.T. Instructors plans and facilitates the Counsellor-In-Training program in collaboration with their co-lead. The C.I.T. program is a two-week leadership program for 14 / 15 years olds that focuses on leadership skills, team building, and program facilitation in a summer camp setting. The program is a direct steppingstone for future youth employment opportunities. Using their experience and knowledge, C.I.T instructors train participants to be future leaders by providing support, supervision and critique, and upholding the standards set by Sasamat following Sasamat’s C.I.T curriculum.
- Instructors lead a variety of different activities and opportunities for participants, including a 2–3-night canoe camping trip between weekly camp sessions. Instructors provide feedback, clear communication, safety guidance, first aid as necessary for the program and given environment on or off site.

Pay: $160.00-$180.00 per day
