Reporting to the Regional Facility Manager, Facility Manager is responsible for supporting the delivery of the Facility Management Program within the specified region while servicing the Government of Nunavut inventory of owned facilities and manages delegated human, financial, material and contracted resources in accordance with the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement established GN Acts, regulations, guidelines and policies as well as the Collective Agreement within the defined scope of the Facility Management Program.

Facility Manager is responsible for program delivery of assigned communities in the Baffin, Region in political, social, and cross-cultural setting and oversees a multi-disciplinary group consisting of a team of technical experts. This position monitors actual expenditure with respect to planned cost and further supports the Regional Facility Manager in program development in setting, monitoring and interpreting standards and performance criteria of buildings. Manages multiple contracts and numerous concurrent projects while simultaneously maintain relations with clients, managing staff and responding to incidents as when they occur.

The knowledge, skills,



and abilities required for this job are obtained through a recognized post-secondary institution in building related technology or related field with certification or building related Trade certification with a minimum of 4 years related work experience in facilities management, construction, or operations and maintenance including 2 years supervisory experience with a variety of building types, sizes or municipal works and Class 5 Driver’s License. The position requires proven ability to support budgets/polices/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Proven skill in asset management strategies, life cycle, success with preventative maintenance programs, building operations meeting service standards that comply with all local laws and regulations (mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing).

Certification as a Facility Manager is considered an asset.

This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit,



Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural setting are also considered assets.
