Job duties

- Operate street cleaning equipment such as street sweepers or other vehicles equipped with rotating brushes to remove sand, litter and trash

- Operate trucks equipped with apparatuses for spreading sand, salt or abrasives on roadways Check, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment and report any malfunctions to supervisor. Filling the street sweeper's water tanks and operating rotary brushes and water spray controls. Exercising caution when operating in confined spaces and congested streets.

- Clearing trash, debris, snow, and contaminants from streets and curbs.

- Securely fastening vehicle attachments such as brush hogs and hydraulic hoses.

- Maintaining street sweeper vehicles and equipment by performing standard checks. Reporting any incidents or mechanical failures to management.

- Adhering to traffic safety regulations by using appropriate signaling and signage. Maintaining accurate street sweeper logs.

- Supervising street sweeper teams.

- Operating heavy duty leaf blowers.

Street Sweeper Operator Requirements

- High school diploma or GED.

- Smart phone with capability to send and receive messages including picture messages. Applicable driver’s license. Class 5 with Air (required)





- Extensive experience in performing street sweeping operations.

- Advanced proficiency in operating specialized vehicles and equipment.

- Safe driving record and advanced driving skills.

- Ability to work in all weather conditions.

- Working knowledge of vehicle and standard equipment maintenance.

- In-depth knowledge of secure operating practices and traffic safety regulations.

- Proficiency in recordkeeping and incident reporting.

- Effective communication and team leadership skills.

- Required to complete daily paperwork, including sign off sheets, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and driver logs.

Physical demands

- Bending or twisting the body Making repetitive motions

- Climb in and out of trucks up to 50+ times per shift.

- Lifting of up to 50lbs on a frequent basis.

- Sitting for prolonged periods of time

- Extremely bright or inadequate lighting

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
