About the role:
This role will work 30 hours per week, supporting School Age and Kinder at the Apsley program. Hours will be based on program needs and funding. You will work 30 hours per week in a split shift in before-school programming and in after-school programming, with some additional hours in between your split shift, Monday to Friday. During PA days, Winter break, and March break, and summer camp, this role will work full-time hours.
Hours will be based on the needs and funding of the program. Program hours are 6:30 am to 6 pm.
Some accountabilities associated with the role include:
- Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
- Documenting children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
- Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
- Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
- Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
- Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
- Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
- Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
- Follow CELC, CCEYA,
and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
Requirements:
- 1-3 years’ experience working with children and youth.
- Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
- Valid certifications, including a Transparent Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- OR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
- OR has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Director's Approval (i.e., Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, and Ontario Certified Teachers - Primary and Junior)
