Job Summary
Herring Cove Veterinary Hospital has an opening for a veterinary assistant. This is a full time permanent position.

We are a privately owned hospital equipped with digital whole body x-ray, digital dental x-ray, in house IDEXX full lab, and IDEXX Neo cloud based software plus much more!

We are a group of individuals who aim to provide help, kindness, and respect to each other and our clients while maintaining a work/life balance.

We currently have 3 experienced vets, 3 experiences technicians, 3 veterinary assistants, 2 full time receptionists and a manager.

Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8-6. There are no weekend or evening hours.

New grads are welcome to apply! Must have attained a vet assistant diploma or have equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and maintain cleanliness standards
- Collect and process laboratory samples, perform basic laboratory tests,



and document results
- Restrain animals safely during procedures and examinations
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by veterinarians
- Provide compassionate care and support to animals and their owners
- Maintain accurate records of patient histories, treatments, and laboratory data
- Restock supplies and ensure the clinic is organized and well-maintained

Requirements

- Prior laboratory experience is an asset
- Strong interest in animal health and welfare
- Excellent communication skills and a caring attitude towards animals and clients
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle animals gently and safely in various situations
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of veterinary procedures is a plus
