The Prospect The City of Selkirk is currently in search of a Summer Heritage Programmer to join our team Under the direction of the Culture Coordinator, the Summer Heritage Programmer will provide assistance in the planning, preparation and delivery of heritage or cultural related activities, special events sponsored or supported by the City of Selkirk.

Job Duties

1. Research and Writing
n
nn
- Research blog post topics using sources such as the Archives of Manitoba, newspaper archives, local history books and oral history interviews.
n
- Write blog posts for the museum that captures, preserves and shares the heritage of Selkirk.
n
- Assist with conducting and recording oral histories, managing the digital files and transcribing the interviews.
n

1. Administrative

- Maintain and update website content to ensure it remains accurate, and user-friendly.
n
- Assist with marketing of the Selkirk Museum to attract visitors to learn the rich history of Selkirk through social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram posts, and stories.

1. Archiving
n

- Assist with the documentation, preservation, and cataloging of archives.
n
- Support the organization of the City of Selkirk’s digital archives, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
n
- Maintain and update the museum’s inventory and database, ensuring proper care,
storage, and accessibility of assets.
n

1. Programming and Events
n
nn
- Assist with the development, implementation and promotion of heritage programming and events that will conserve and enhance Selkirk’s public spaces.
n
nn
1. Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
n
nQualifications/Minimum Requirements n
- A Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible)
n
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
n
- Between the age of 16 to 30 years at the start of employment
n
- Full-time high school, college, CEGEP, or university student
n
- Proven understanding of project/event development, marketing and event promotion
n
- Strong oral and written communication skills
n
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
n
- Competence with computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet and social media, and the ability to learn new technology as required
n
- Clear Current Criminal Record Check
n
- Valid Class 5 or G Driver’s License
n
nCommentsnThis is a Casual Non-Union position ranging working various hours up to 35 hours a week based on a flexible schedule. This position is excluded from the Collective Agreement and is open to all applicants. Applications will be accepted until May 15, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.n
