Rate of Pay range : $ 43.18 - $47.56 per hour based on experience.

Superior-District School Board, Superior North Catholic District School Board and Anishinaabemowin Boodawe Committee invite community members with a passion for supporting the children of tomorrow, to participate in one or both of this year's summer Anishinaabemowin Immersion Camp taking place in July. Working with children between the ages of five (5) to nine (9) there are multiple opportunities to share your language, culture, traditions, and experience with the next generation. If you have a passion for children and a desire to support children's learning journey, we encourage you to apply for this opportunity.

Immersion Program Facilitator
n
- One (1) per location / camp
The Program Facilitator is responsible for the program development, management, and overall success of the camp, including community partnership, program design, scheduling and direction, risk management, and camp participant success. The role requires demonstrated capacity for team leadership in a First Nations community context. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support on site to ensure the smooth running of a safe, inclusive, high-quality Anishinaabemowin Immersion Camp. Qualificationsn
- Proven agile leadership abilities
- First Nations community experience
- Fluency in Anishinaabemowin is an asset
Dutiesn
- Coordinate with First Nations community partners;
- Develop a 5-day immersion program based on gifts and strengths of Anishinaabemowin Speakers;
- Support children and their families in learning Anishinaabemowin and Anishinaabe spiritual and cultural traditions, and all aspects of programming during the camp;
- Support Anishinaabemowin Speakers and supervise all staff, participants, and volunteers;
- Manage and direct all day-to-day programming and activities on site and handle various issues as they arise
Fluent Anishinaabemowin Speakers n
- Six (6) per location / camp
The Anishinaabemowin Speakers are responsible for designing and leading outdoor activities with Anishinaabemowin as the medium of instruction and communication. The role requires Speakers to use Anishinaabemowin only throughout the day, using various immersion instruction techniques to make Anishinaabemowin comprehensible to participants who may have little or no language themselves, while engaging participants in a variety of active outdoor activities. Qualificationsn
- Fluency in Anishinaabemowin and ability to stay in the language all day without using English
- Experience using a variety of techniques to make Anishinaabemowin comprehensible as the medium of communication
- Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture and traditions
Dutiesn
- Work with an Immersion Support Person to support natural language acquisition for small groups of children (ages 5-9) with effective immersion delivery
- Prepare and lead fun activities to engage camp participants in an outdoor setting, based on your strengths and skills (e.g., music, crafts, medicines, cooking, storytelling, sports, etc.)
Volunteers n
We invite interested persons to apply as volunteers. Volunteers will provide support in various aspects of camp setup and activities, supporting individual camp participants, helping prepare and serve meals, running various errands, etc.
