What You Will Get To Do

nThe successful candidate will have a positive impact on our corporate culture by demonstrating the Town’s CARE core values (Cooperative, Accountable, Respectful, Engaged) through daily interactions with individuals at all levels of the organization, external contacts and elected officials.nBy effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community.n

Reporting to the Project Manager - Sustainability & Climate Change, the Energy Coordinator works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to implement the Zero Carbon Whitby Plan to reduce GHG emissions, energy consumption as well as utility and fuel costs across all operations of the organization, with a primary focus on corporate energy management and emissions reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities include

n

n




- Tracking, analyzing the Town’s greenhouse gas emissions, energy and fuel consumption in accordance with ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 228-2023;
n
- Developing and maintaining the Town’s RetScreen, Energy Star Portfolio Manager, Circuit Meter, and ChargePoint profiles;
n
- Preparing and submitting data in compliance with O. Reg. 507/18 (Broader Public Sector Energy and GHG Reporting) and other corporate disclosure requirements (e.g., CDP where applicable);
n
- Monitoring, modelling and providing recommendations for behaviour and business process improvements;
n
- Reviewing project specifications and technical documentation for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption;
n
- Providing support for capital project improvements and budgeting processes, including business case development, forecasting, and GHG emissions measurement and verification support;
n
- Leading and coordinating utility incentive applications;
n
- Chairing the Corporate Energy Team and support staff in order to optimize the use of utilities and promote energy conservation;
n
- Implementing an internal Energy Conservation Challenge to foster staff engagement, raise awareness of energy use, and promote collaborative action toward corporate emissions-reduction goals;
n
- Partnering with external organizations and utility companies to research, implement and monitor energy optimization initiatives;
n
- Supporting implementation, and reporting for the Zero Carbon Whitby Plan and the Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan, and supporting implementation of the Climate Emergency Response Plan;
n
- Leading monitoring and reporting of the Town's corporate EV charging infras
