Governance Policy Analyst – Political OfficenSalary:

Responsibilities

n

Support advocacy priorities and policies of Oneida Nation of the Thames.

n

Monitor and analyze policy initiatives at the provincial and national level that could impact the rights and interests of Oneida.

n

Provide technical advice and articulate complex ideas and information concisely for supervisors, Chief and Council.

n

Research and prepare a variety of written documents, including briefing notes, speaking points, and work plans.

n

Advise and assist in advancing Oneida’s political interests.

n

Qualifications

n

Education

n

Post‑secondary degree in a related field (e.g., Political Science, Social Science, Indigenous Studies).

n

Experience

n

1–2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

n

Minimum of one year working with First Nations or an organization focused on advocacy or policy development.

n

Experience conducting research, analyzing information, and engaging in policy matters of priority to First Nations.

n

Ability to distill large amounts of information into concise, easy‑to‑understand formats.

n

Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture and issues.

n

Solid written and verbal communication skills.

n





Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

n

Ability to multi‑task effectively and work under pressure with tight deadlines.

n

Collaborative, team‑orientated with the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

n

Excellent organizational, planning, and time‑management skills.

n

Preference for candidates with community or similar roles experience within other organizations, institutions, or governments.

n

Asset: Ability to speak French or an Indigenous language.

n
