Experience
n
n
- Two years of recent, relevant experience and demonstrated competency in public health, primary care/primary health care, population-level health promotion or community development is required or applicants who have completed their undergrad practicum with Public Health.
n
- Relevant experience may include:nn
- Applying principles of health promotion, primary prevention, population health, primary health care, harm reduction, and community development in public health, primary care/primary health care, northern health (that includes primary care / primary health care or public health) or infection prevention and control settings.
n
- Family and child health.
n
- Promoting equity at a population level and community development with populations who experience lower health status (e.g., street-involved persons, lower income, vulnerable families).
n
- Communicable disease control.
n
- The Healthy Sexuality and Harm Reduction program serves a large proportion of clients who are Indigenous. The WRHA recognizes the importance of building an exemplary health care labour force that is inclusive and reflective of the population it serves.

- Six months of substance-use related harm reduction work experience.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
n
n
- Baccalaureate Nursing Degree is required.
n
- In addition, at least one of the following is preferred:nn
- Successful completion of a Public Health Agency of Canada’s Skills Enhancement for Public Health Program content module certificate.
n
- Canadian Community Health Nurses certification - CCHN(C).
n
- Successful completion of a related course at a master level (e.g., epidemiology, community development, community nursing).
n

n
Certification/Licensure/Registration
n
n
- Current College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Registration (CRNM) required.
n
- Active participation in qualified associations e.g. Association of RegulatedNurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
n
- Possession of a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license required.
n
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
n
- International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or successful completion of Douglas College Breastfeeding Counsellor Certificate Program for Community Area positions preferred.
n
n

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups and to apply the principles of adult education.
n
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
n
- Proficiency in computer software applications.

Physical Requirements
n
n
- Physically capable of carrying out clinical skills such as immunizations, intra-dermal and intramuscular injection, phlebotomy, and physical assessments.
n
- Physically able to push, pull, lift and or carry equipment weighing up to 50lbs. Please note that when dealing with items 50 lbs. of weight ensure proper equipment is used and/or ask for additional assistance to reduce/eliminate risks, where reasonably practicable, when handling large, heavy, or bulky loads.
n
- Physically capable of providing service in a wide variety of community settings under varying weather and environmental conditions.
n
- Access to and use of a reliable motor
