Position Description

Binesi Waziswon is an Anihsinaabe-led residential youth treatment home that blends traditional and Western approaches to treating and healing complex mental health needs. This home is located at the Youth and Family Wellness Camp.n

The Operational Manager, reporting to the Director of Behavioural Health, provides coordination and leadership over the delivery of culturally protected, trauma-informed services and staff supervision for Binesi Waziswon Residential Treatment Services. This position collaborates with the Clinical Manager to ensure a holistic, wraparound bi-cultural model of care.

Manager will also directly supervise the Youth Workers, overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure safe and intensive support is provided to youth struggling with complex mental health needs.

Starting Salary: 75,000

Location: 371 Strecker Rd, Kenora, Ontario

Reports to: Director of Behavioural Health

n

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Operationsn

- Oversee day-to-day operations and activities for the youth and Youth Workers, including planning daily activities and supporting meal planning
- Ensure activities are healing in nature and reflect a bi-cultural model of care
- Support intake and discharge planning, including graduation and cultural ceremonies
- Work scheduled paid on-call
- Monitor and operationalize program budget

Client Services (direct and indirect)n

- In collaboration with the Youth Workers, provide mentorship and skill building for the youth
- Ensure recommendations from the bi-cultural and clinical team are carried out by the Youth Workers in day-to-day activities and programming
- Monitor service quality to clients and make changes as necessary

Staffing and Quality Assurancen

- Recruitment and selection of Youth Worker staff
- Provide mentoring,



monitoring and evaluation of staff performance
- Identify areas for training and professional development within the team
- Provide staff training in areas of operations, policies, and procedures
- Staff scheduling
- Monitor staff compliance with data entry to ensure accurate and timely reporting

Community Liaisonn

- Support awareness of Binesi Waziswon and the broader needs of child and youth mental health across Northern Ontario
- Develop positive and good working relationships with community leaders, relevant professionals and parallel agencies to facilitate wraparound service to our clients before, during and after program participation.

Qualifications:n

- 2+ years of experience working in the child and youth and/or mental health sector, with residential experience as an asset
- Ability to manage and lead staff, maintain positive working relationships, and provide sound decision-making
- Strong commitment to values and ethics in both personal and professional life, adhering to the 7 Grandfather Teachings
- Understand and believe in a holistic strengths-based approach to supporting youth and their families
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Excellent skills in organization, networking, interpersonal, presentation and communication (written & oral)
- Ability to respond to crisis and post-crisis situations
- Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and experience in working in First Nation communities is an asset

- Valid driver’s license and vehicle
- Current satisfactory criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search
