Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

nRural Municipality of Prairie Lakes – Belmont, MB The Rural Municipality of Prairie Lakes is seeking an experienced and agile Chief Administrative Officer to provide strong leadership and strategic guidance to our municipality of approximately 1,625 residents.n

Formed on January 1, 2015 through the amalgamation of the former RMs of Strathcona and Riverside, Prairie Lakes is known for its robust agricultural base, rich local history, and welcoming rural communities. The municipality surrounds Pelican Lake, one of southern Manitoba’s largest lakes, offering excellent recreational opportunities and vibrant lakeside living.

The communities of Belmont, Dunrea, Margaret, and Ninette contribute to the area’s small‑town charm, agricultural heritage, and strong sense of community. Together, they form a scenic and thriving region characterized by prairie landscapes, rolling hills, and interconnected lakes.

Reporting directly to Council,



the CAO is responsible for leading all municipal operations, staff, programs, and administrative functions in accordance with The Municipal Act, ensuring effective governance, sound financial management, and effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

nFinancial planning and management of a budget exceeding $6 million, advising Council on policies and initiatives, implementing Council decisions, and fostering positive relationships with residents and stakeholders.n

Qualifications

nSubstantial municipal administrative experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and relevant post-secondary education or certification.n
