Overview
We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Wine Shop Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for retail and a strong ability to engage with customers, ensuring they have an exceptional shopping experience.
As a Wine Shop Associate, you will be responsible for assisting customers, managing sales transactions, and maintaining the overall appearance of the store.
You will guide visitors through informative wine-tasting experiences.
Duties
- Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for visitors
- Answer guests' questions and provide recommendations based on their tastes
- Assist with wine sales and suggest pairings
- Ensure visitors have a positive, enjoyable experience
- Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system, including cash handling and cashiering duties
- Assist with inventory management, including restocking shelves and conducting inventory counts as needed
Responsibilities
- A positive attitude with strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members
- Ability to stand for some periods of time, and routinely lift up to 40 pounds
- Robust cash handling skills and familiarity with cashiering processes
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for wine and educating others on it
- A current Serving It Right certificate
- 1-2 days of availability is required but additional hours may be available
- Flexible schedule
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Share knowledge about different wine varieties and the winemaking process
Experience
- 1-2 years of customer service, server or sales experience
- Previous serving experience preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Experience with serving, cashiering, and food handling is advantageous
- Familiarity with Micros POS or similar point-of-sale systems is a plus
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper hygiene practices
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Must be at least 19 years of age
