Our partner, O'Brien Material Handling, is currently seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Controller to join its leadership team in Memramcook, Recent Brunswick. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for a senior finance professional ready to play a strategic role at a proudly Atlantic Canadian manufacturing company.
O'Brien overhead cranes have been manufacturing locally in Memramcook for over 30 years and are the only full-service crane manufacturer in Atlantic Canada. Known for their reputation for excellence and their commitment to local industry, O'Brien builds overhead crane solutions for day-to-day and industry-specific lifting requirements across the region and beyond.
OVERVIEW
As Controller, you will be a key member of the leadership team, providing financial guidance and oversight to the President while managing a team of two within the finance department. You will be responsible for the full scope of accounting and financial management, from monthly statements and job costing to budgeting, forecasting, risk analysis, and compliance. This role is ideal for a self-starting, analytically sharp finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in the accuracy and integrity of their work.
HIGHLIGHTED DUTIES
- Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and provide quarterly KPI reports to department heads
- Lead budgeting, cash flow reporting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the President, including variance analysis and risk assessment
- Oversee job costing,
including analyzing and closing jobs on a monthly basis
- Manage and develop a team covering accounts receivable, payables, payroll, and inventory
- Ensure government compliance reporting and adherence to all financially related policies and benchmarks
- Review financial contracts, financing agreements, and insurance policies
- Oversee group benefits and DPSP administration, corporate credit card distribution, and expense monitoring
- Manage foreign currency purchasing, wire transfers, and vendor payments
- Maintain accurate filing systems, internal controls, and accounting process improvements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in a senior accounting role
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a strong asset
- Advanced proficiency in AS400, Microsoft Office 365, and accounting software, including the ability to build queries
- Familiarity with change management processes such as ADKAR or similar frameworks
