Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Marine Operations Supervisor to oversee daily site activity to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent marine farm operations. This role is responsible for coordinating staff schedules, supporting feeding operations, and ensuring all team members have the tools, equipment, and information they need to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Scheduling & Coordination
- Develop and maintain bi-weekly staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Assign daily tasks and adjust staffing based on weather, site condition, and operational priorities.
- Support onboarding and training new staff.
Feeding Operations Support
- Ensure staff have the tools, equipment, and information to carry out feeding activities safely and effectively.
- Monitor feeding procedures and ensure compliance with company standards and fish welfare practices.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance when needed.
Site Activity Coordination
- Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring tasks are completed safety and on schedule.
- Monitor site conditions and respond to operational challenges as they arise.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure staff follow all safety protocols.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, drills, incident reporting, and ongoing training programs.
- Ensure operations comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Ensure staff follow all biosecurity protocols to prevent disease introduction and spread.
- Ensure staff maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Harvest & Production Activities
- Assist with harvest preparation and harvest execution as needed.
- Support fish transfers between sites or systems.
Recordkeeping & Reporting
- Ensure staff are maintaining accurate daily logs of feed usage, treatments, mortalities, and environmental data.
- Assist with reporting for audits, certifications (BAP), and internal reviews.
Teamwork & Communication
- Collaborate effectively with Technicians, Site Supervisors, the Fish Health team, and management.
- Communicate issues promptly and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
- Support new staff by demonstrating proper procedures and safe practices.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in aquaculture, marine operations,
or related field.
- Proven ability to lead teams in outdoor, weather-dependent environments.
- Ability to perform physical work in marine or outdoor environments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working outside and on the water.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a supervisor or manager in aquaculture.
- Experience with feeding systems and fish husbandry.
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, small vessel operator, or forklift operation.
Work Environment
- Based on-site in an outdoor, marine farm environment in St. Alban’s, NL.
- Exposure to wet, cold, or slippery conditions.
- Company issued PPE required, including flotation devices, gloves, and boots, etc.

- Schedules are completed on time and aligned to site needs and smooth daily operations with minimal disruption.
- Staff consistently have tools, feed and equipment and feeding tasks are completed on schedule.
- Maintaining excellent welfare, safety, and compliance standards.
- Contributing positively to team performance and communication.
- Growing technical skills and taking on more responsibility over time.
