Duties
- Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and collections to optimize cash flow.
- Conduct thorough account analysis to identify discrepancies, resolve issues promptly, and maintain the integrity of financial data.
- Oversee payroll management using systems such as ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including financial statement preparation and audit support.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal audits to uphold corporate governance standards.
- Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or Workday to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiency.
- Support governmental accounting requirements and non-profit accounting practices when applicable.
- Assist with tax preparation activities by providing relevant financial data and supporting documentation.
- Maintain meticulous records of all financial transactions through data entry, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP standards; public accounting experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or Workday is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll management systems like ADP or Paychex along with familiarity with Kronos or UltiPro for timekeeping.
- Strong background in account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, and general ledger management.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and governmental accounting procedures preferred.
- Excellent understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, account analysis, budgeting, credit analysis, and tax regulations.
- Ability to perform detailed data entry using 10-key typing skills efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills combined with a high level of mathematical proficiency; capable of performing complex account analysis confidently.
