About Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House: Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is a welcoming, community‑based organization that builds strong, connected communities. Since 1950, Cedar Cottage has committed to fostering belonging, dignity, equity, and collective well‑being for the people living in the neighbourhoods of Kensington-Cedar Cottage. Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is in the process of a exciting change as we spend this next year planning to move to a new purpose built building.

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Document Design Specialist to create clear, polished, and visually engaging materials that support both internal and external organizational communication and operations. This role combines strong writing, editing, and layout design skills to produce documents that are accessible, consistent, and aligned with organizational standards and branding.

We are looking for a new member to join our team to support work that highlights the programs, impact, and stories of Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House. The ideal candidate will uphold Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House values of inclusion, respect, community connection, and belonging. Additional administrative and communication hours may be available.

Specific areas of responsibilities include:

· Design, format, and produce high-quality documents, including reports, proposals, presentations, policies, and program materials

· Collaborate with staff to translate complex information into clear, reader-friendly content

· Edit and proofread materials for clarity, tone, grammar,



and consistency

· Apply and maintain organizational branding, templates, and style guidelines

· Develop and improve document templates, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and consistency

· Ensure documents are accessible and inclusive, including use of plain language and explicit formatting

· Prepare materials for internal and external audiences, including funders, partners, and the public

· Manage multiple projects and timelines to ensure timely delivery

Qualifications

- Experience in communications, publishing, or a related field
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and plain language principles
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in document design and formatting tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe InDesign)
- Experience working in a non-profit or community-based organization

Terms of Employment

Hours: 7–14 hours per week (dependent on project needs)Days of work can be negotiated-with some allowable work at home hours.

Hourly Wage: Band A3, Step 3 ($26.89)
