Job Overview The Volunteer & Food Services Coordinator will oversee the agency’s volunteer program as well as provide day-to-day coordination and oversight of food programs. This role supports and guides volunteers to ensure safe, organized and effective program delivery, while maintaining compliance with health & safety and Food Banks Canada Standards. Balancing operational oversight with relationship-building, the Coordinator fosters a positive, respectful environment and strengthens systems to deliver high-quality services to the community.

Responsibilities
n
n
- Act as first point-of-contact for new volunteers for the agency (recruit, screen & initial orientation)
n
- Schedule and coordinate volunteers for events & fundraising activities
n
- Organize and lead organizational volunteer training and refresher training
n
- Support organizational volunteer recognition and retention initiatives
n
- Oversee the delivery of food services, including food bank, hamper delivery, surplus food distribution, cooking and repackaging as well as seasonal programming
n
- Ensure compliance with Standards, WHMIS and health & safety practices
n
- Maintain accurate volunteer and program records and assist with reporting and administrative tasks
n
- Foster a welcoming & respectful environment for volunteers, staff, supporters and clients
n
n
Experience
n
n
- Diploma or Degree in Community Development, Food Services, Nonprofit Management or a related field
n
- 2 years or more experience in supervisory or volunteer coordination role
n
- Experience with volunteer coordination and/or community programming
n
- Ability to guide and support diverse volunteers respectfully
n
- Comfortable working in both administration and hands-on environments
n
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
n
- Valid Class G driver's license or access to independent transportation is required
n
n
Knowledge & Skills:
n

- Deep awareness and understanding of poverty, food- and energy-insecurity
n
- Desire and ability to work compassionately with people from diverse backgrounds in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner
n
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and privacy protocols
n
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
n
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, staff and community members
n
- Ability to provide clear guidance and support in a respectful, team-oriented environment
n
- Awareness of food safety standards and protected food handling practices
n
- Understanding of workplace health & safety, including WHMIS requirements
n
- Ability to motivate, recognize and support volunteers to shine their brightest
n
- Ability to analyze variety of problems, identify causes and recommend solutions
n
- Ability to maintain accurate records and support reporting requirements
n
- Strong computer skills, including email software, Google Suite, internet browsing, database management
n
- Proficiency with Better Impact and/or Monday.com considered an asset
n
n
Pay: $25.00-$26.00 per hour
n
