1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Communications Specialist supports the development and implementation of integrated communications strategies that support organizational priorities while stewarding the brand and reputation of LMCH. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Specialist will collaborate with subject matter experts to oversee the planning and implementation of LMCH's internal and external communications and public relations initiatives, as well as corporate policies and procedures development.
This is a non-bargaining unit position. This position is temporary for a term of up to 9 months.
2. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and execute a social media strategy in collaboration with the Communications Manager.
· Craft, schedule, and analyze posts across various digital platforms.
· Engage with our online community, responding to comments, questions, and private messages in a manner that fosters a positive community and reflects LMCH's Mission, Vision, and Values.
· Report on social media performance metrics, offering insights and strategies for improvement.
· Complete regular updates to the website.
· With input from the Communications Manager, and subject matter experts, conceptualize, plan, and produce a range of communication and marketing materials including web content, reports, newsletters, educational materials, digital signage, surveys, etc.
· Work closely with the Communications Manager and subject matter experts from across programs to identify internal and external communication needs, ensuring consistent messaging and timely deployment of communications.
· Uncover and share captivating, timely, impactful stories that could live across our communication channels, such as our websites, social media channels, and newsletters.
· Ensure communications are aligned with the LMCH brand and strategic direction.
· Collaborate with the Communications Manager to plan and manage key events including announcements/media conferences, days of recognition, webinars, staff recognition initiatives, etc.
· Create and maintain a digital assets library of documents, news stories, and photographs relevant to the organization's performance, communications, and development plans.
· Recommend metric and feedback mechanisms to enhance communication strategies.
· Perform other position-related duties as assigned.
3. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Post-secondary degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing, or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
· 3 to 5 years of experience in related field or equivalent work experience
· Strong knowledge of and experience with content creation and digital media management
· Demonstrated strong oral and written communication and editing skills, with initiative, creativity, and a passion for persuasive storytelling.
· Demonstrated experience in digital asset management (web mastering) and effective use of social media. Experience in website development and preparing RFPs for vendors.
· Experience with video production, ideal but not required.
· Experience designing/formatting documents for print production, ideal but not required.
· Excellent computer literacy including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Suite.
· Ability to provide creative and innovative advice on communications matters.
· Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
· Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
· Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
· Must possess a valid driver's license, have access to a reliable vehicle, and carry adequate insurance.

5. POLICE RECORDS CHECK and VULNERABLE POSITION SCREENING:
This position requires the successful candidate submit a current Police Records check from their local police service. A current LMCH employee who is the successful candidate for this position must also provide this document unless it is already on file and not more than one year old.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience; we also offer comprehensive health benefits and a defined benefit pension plan.
